Today I discovered slimbox 2 was available and ported to jQuery, this has been a long awaited change for me, as I'm now able to drop mootools and use some of the other jquery-based tools I've been hacking on.
I installed jquery 1.3.1 today and have already begun playing around with it, I've updated my search form with an autocomplete feature, based on a select list of keywords and phrases pulled from my database, it's a work in progress.
