Playing the space sim Freelancer on the Acer Aspire One netbook

Here's a good example of a game that feels like it was made for the Acer Aspire One netbook, Freelancer. This is another one of those games released for the PC back in mid-2003. It was highly anticipated at the time and didn't quite live up to the hype, but it turned out to be a pretty good game in it's own right, in my opinion.

I hadn't played this game in quite a while before installing it on my Aspire One, but everything came back to me pretty quickly, switching to mouse flight and 1st person perspective were the first things I did.

My aim is f**king horrendous though, lol... as my mouse was too sensitive... and you definitely want to use a mouse for this game. This video shows the first lift-off cutscene and first battle.

Once installed, I started it up and it loads quickly and plays superbly @ 800x600, with all the details maxed out. There is plenty of space on the screen to see what you need, it doesn't feel so cramped like many netbook games do when running @ 800x600.

This is still quite a fun game, and it looks frigging awesome on the AAO, so if you like Flight/Space Sims, I'd highly recommend giving this one a go.
